AGRA, Oct. 14 -- A head constable deployed as a gunner in Prayagraj was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly shooting dead a dhaba owner in Agra on Friday night. The accused, Jacky Chaudhary (38), was brought to Agra and produced before a court. Additional DCP (City/Crime) Manoj Kumar Yadav said the victim, Bittu Lavania, who worked at Mahesh Dhaba, was shot dead within the Sadar police station limits. A case was registered on a complaint lodged by the deceased's brother. A police team comprising the Special Operations Group (SOG) and surveillance unit traced and arrested Chaudhary in Prayagraj following instructions from police commissioner Deepak Kumar, Yadav said. During interrogation, the accused reportedly told police that he and Lavania were friends and had been drinking with other acquaintances near the dhaba.
