After BCI nod, LU to begin 5-year BBA LLB course
LUCKNOW, June 19 -- Lucknow University became the first state university to offer the integrated BBA LLB programme starting in the 2026-27 session with approval from the Bar Council of India. BCI's standing committee sanctioned three sections with 60 seats each, bringing the total intake to 180 students.
Officials said this move will give meritorious students in the state access to high-quality corporate legal education at a lower cost.
Vice-chancellor prof JP Saini called the approval a result of the university's academic excellence and commitment to legal education. "Our goal is not just to impart bookish knowledge, but to shape students into global legal experts and enlightened citizens," he said.
The new course blends management science with law to meet corporate sector demands. Students will study business organisation, financial accounting and marketing alongside constitutional law, business law and international legal systems.
Graduates will have career options as legal associates and merger and acquisitions specialists in corporate law firms and MNCs, in-house counsel in companies and start-ups, legal managers in banks and NBFCs, compliance officers, and in independent litigation. They will also be eligible for state judicial services exams like PCS-J.
University administration said preparations for admissions, faculty allocation and infrastructure are underway for the 2026-27 launch....
