Admn razes compound linked to priest's murder in Unnao; 3 held
KANPUR, June 11 -- A day after a 45-year-old priest was allegedly stabbed to death in Bangarmau town of Unnao, the local administration on Wednesday demolished the compound where the incident took place, even as three special teams were tracking down the remaining suspects, officials said.
The 400-square-yard compound belonging to ward member Atiq Khan was razed by a joint team of the municipal council and police. Bangarmau CO Santosh Kumar Singh claimed the structure, which housed the makeshift hut where the victim, Milan Singh alias Ram Milan Das, was attacked, had been constructed on Nagar Palika land.
Das was attacked around 1 pm on Tuesday while sitting under a shed in the compound. Police registered a case against five local residents - Israel, Yameen, Shanu, Shafi and Lalla alias Lalli - along with three unidentified persons.
Three of the named accused have been detained, while raids are underway to apprehend Lalla and Israel, superintendent of police JP Singh said.
Police downplayed any communal angle and pointed to a dispute linked to narcotics....
