LUCKNOW, July 15 -- Differences between the King George's Medical University (KGMU) vice-chancellor and the registrar came into the open on Tuesday after two conflicting office orders were issued within hours. As per the letter, registrar Archana Gaharwar, before proceeding on leave, directed that the officiating registrar would handle only routine administrative work and would not take policy decisions, matters involving financial liabilities, appointments, transfers or issues with legal and administrative implications. The order further stated that urgent matters could be decided only with her prior approval. Hours later, vice-chancellor Prof Soniya Nityanand issued a separate office order revoking the registrar's directive with immediate effect, stating that it had been issued without the V-C's approval, it stated. The issuance of two contradictory orders on the same day triggered discussions across KGMU's administrative corridors and highlighted apparent differences at the university's top administrative level.
