Lucknow, May 24 -- Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said speedy, transparent, and quality disposal of revenue matters should be included among the state government's top priorities. "Disputes related to land and revenue are directly connected to the lives of common people, farmers' interests, and social harmony. Therefore, unnecessary delays in such matters will not be acceptable under any circumstances," the chief minister said. He was presiding over a high-level meeting convened to review the progress in disposal of pending cases in revenue courts. He said a separate list of old cases pending in revenue courts for years should be prepared and a special strategy should be made for their disposal. The divisional commissioners and district magistrates present at the meeting through video conferencing were asked to ensure disposal of pending cases in their respective areas within a fixed time frame. The chief minister said accountability of officers and personnel should be fixed and necessary action must be ensured in cases that remain pending beyond the prescribed time limit. "Through a technology-based system, accountability, and a time-bound working mechanism, the efficiency of revenue courts should be made even more effective so that common citizens can get speedy justice," he said. Cases pending beyond the prescribed time limit should be disposed of on priority through special drives, he added. "Regular reviews should be conducted at tehsil and district levels and accountability should be fixed for districts showing weak performance. The functioning of revenue courts should not remain limited only to statistics, but common people must receive actual relief," he said. It was pointed out that a significant decrease has been recorded in pending cases under Section 80. Basti, Chitrakoot, Ayodhya, Baghpat, and Kannauj showed better performance, while the performance of Meerut, Varanasi, Amethi, Gautam Buddh Nagar, and Hapur was found relatively weak. There has been a significant reduction in the number of pending cases under Section-34 as well. Bareilly, Rampur, Moradabad, Aligarh, and Badaun showed better performance, while Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Pratapgarh, Ballia, and Deoria could not achieve the expected progress. He said special drives should be conducted in these districts for speedy disposal of pending cases. During the review of uncontested inheritance cases under Section 33, it was informed that in 2025, a total of 16,89,732 applications were received, out of which 16,43,104 were disposed of....
