VARANASI, July 30 -- Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had translated the ideals of Sant Ravidas into reality through the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, under which free ration have been distributed to 81 crore beneficiaries since 2020, irrespective of caste or creed. Addressing the Samajik Samarasta Sankalp Sabha at Seer Goverdhanpur, the birthplace of Sant Ravidas, the CM inaugurated the Samras Sankalp Abhiyan, a nationwide outreach campaign that will run for about seven months. The campaign aims to spread Sant Ravidas's message of equality, social harmony and a casteless society while promoting social cohesion. Qjuoting the saint's famous verse, "Aisa chahu raj main, mile jahan saban ko anna.", Adityanath said Sant Ravidas had envisioned a society where everyone had access to food and lived without discrimination. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has worked to translate the words and resolve of Sant Ravidas into reality through the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana," he said. Adityanath said Sant Ravidas embodied the mission of his guru, Sant Ramanand, by working for the welfare of those at the lowest rung of society. He added that the BJP government was pursuing the vision of a Viksit Bharat by ensuring that welfare schemes reached the most marginalised. Recalling another well-known saying of Sant Ravidas - "Man changa to kathauti mein Ganga" - the Chief Minister said the saint had championed an egalitarian society free from discrimination. Highlighting other initiatives, he said the Centre had named Jalandhar Airport after Sant Ravidas and Ayodhya International Airport after Maharishi Valmiki. He also announced that the state would establish Chief Minister Composite Schools named after Dr B.R. Ambedkar in every district, while Atal Residential Schools were already providing quality education to the children of construction workers. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal also addressed the gathering, saying Dr B.R. Ambedkar drew inspiration from Sant Ravidas's ideals of equality and fraternity. He sang the saint's devotional hymn, Prabhuji Tum Chandan Hum Pani. Union minister of state for Finance and UP BJP chief Pankaj Chaudhary said the campaign would help take Sant Ravidas's message and the government's welfare initiatives to people across the country.
