A celebration of mangoes, memories
LUCKNOW, June 29 -- A mango feast was organised at Kamla Kutir on Sunday as part of the annual Mayan Mahotsav, bringing together residents, artistes, historians and horticulture enthusiasts.
Kamla Kutir, developed by former director general of police Anand Prakash Maheshwari in memory of his mother, hosted the event amid its mango orchard.
A key attraction was the visit of Kaleemullah Khan, popularly known as the "Mango Man of India", who inspected the orchard and appreciated the quality of the mango crop. He said he was pleased to see healthy fruit clusters and praised the efforts behind the cultivation.
Storyteller Himanshu Bajpai spoke about the mango orchards of Malihabad through anecdotes and recited shayari centred on the fruit. Historian Ravi Bhatt also shared his insights with the gathering.
The organisers said the annual festival aims to promote cultural traditions and encourage interaction between people from urban and rural communities.
