PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 9 -- Around 90 people were allegedly cheated of nearly Rs.78 lakh on the promise of sending them to Dubai, Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan for jobs, with four of them allegedly sent to Dubai on fake visas and subsequently stranded there, police said. Khuldabad police have registered an FIR against seven named accused and started an investigation following a complaint by Mohammad Hanif, a resident of Kahariya Bazar in Rae Bareli. In his complaint, Hanif alleged that money was collected from around 90 people between July 2023 and December 2025 on the promise of overseas jobs. Of the total amount, around Rs.65 lakh was allegedly paid to Mohammad Mujtaba Khan alias Sanu Rahman of Bakshi Bazar in Khuldabad, while another Rs.13 lakh was allegedly given to Faisal Khan alias Asim Sheikh, Zakia Khala and Aman. The complainant alleged that most of the applicants were not sent abroad. Only Mohammad Ayub, Rajjav Ali, Ibrar Ahmad and Kamlesh Kumar were sent to Dubai. However, they were allegedly neither medically examined nor provided Emirates IDs and became stranded after it was discovered that their visas were fake. Hanif further alleged that when he demanded his money back, he was called to different countries and harassed. He was allegedly summoned first to Delhi, then kept in Saudi Arabia for around a month, Kazakhstan for 14 days and Dubai for 59 days, but his money was not returned. He also alleged that around 25 people were later called to Dubai amid mounting pressure, where they stayed in a hotel for nearly 10 days before being sent back to India without payment. The complainant said he was also being asked to bear their accommodation and other expenses.
