VARANASI, July 10 -- An eight-year-old boy was killed after a school bus carrying about 45 students overturned near Basahi Mod on the Varanasi-Azamgarh Highway in Azamgarh on Thursday morning. The driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle before it hit a roadside pole and overturned, police said. The deceased was identified as Yunus Belal Khan, a resident of Baraspur village in Devgaon police station area. His body was sent for postmortem examination. Police said the bus, belonging to Jamia Faize-Aam in Sheikhpura, Devgaon, was carrying around 45 students when the accident occurred. The driver allegedly lost control of the steering, causing the bus to collide with a pole and overturn. Circle officer Bhupendra Pandey, Devgaon SHO inspector Sunil Singh and other police personnel reached the spot and rescued the children trapped inside the bus. All students were evacuated safely and later sent home. Yunus, who was critically injured in the accident, was taken to the government hospital in Lalganj, where doctors declared him brought dead. The bus driver fled after the accident. Police said further legal action is underway....
