LUCKNOW, Sept. 22 -- A 52-year-old sub-inspector posted at the Uttar Pradesh Police 112 headquarters in Lucknow died after the car he was travelling in collided with a stationary dumper near Darogakheda in Sarojini Nagar early Monday, police said. "The deceased, identified as Satendra Singh, a resident of Sanigwan in Kanpur Nagar, was found seriously injured inside his car after it rammed into the rear of a dumper parked by the roadside," police said. Singh was wearing his police uniform when the police reached the spot. He was pulled out of the mangled car and taken to the Sarojini Nagar community health centre, where doctors declared him dead, police said. Police informed Singh's family, following which his relatives reached the health centre. His body was sent for post-mortem examination after the completion of necessary legal formalities, police said. Police are investigating the circumstances leading to the crash, including how the car collided with the stationary dumper. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation and the post-mortem report, officials said. A 30-year-old man allegedly killed his 90-year-old grandfather following years of resentment over taunts and a dispute over the family's share in agricultural produce and income. The accused has been identified as Sarvan Yadav while the victim was Parmeshwar Yadav, police said. According to police, Parmeshwar was sleeping on a cot outside his house in Pure Bhawani village on Friday night when Sarvan allegedly attacked him with a spade around 11pm. He was rushed to AIIMS, but died while undergoing treatment on Saturday evening. Police said Sarvan was arrested and sent to jail on Sunday. Three children drowned while bathing in a rainwater-filled pit at Baina village under the Kursi police station area of Barabanki on Sunday evening. The deceased were identified as Deva (13), Sumit (10) and Divyansh (15), police stated in a statement. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the accident and expressed condolences to the bereaved families. The chief minister also directed officials to extend all possible help.
