Lucknow, July 8 -- Even though the percentage of female students receiving degrees during the 24th Convocation ceremony of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) was only 29.45% they still managed to outshine male counterparts in the overall medals' tally, clinching 52 of the total 83 medals during the convocation ceremony on Tuesday. Needless to say the medal winners were beaming with joy. Anshika Rana, a B Tech Computer Science Engineering student who clinched the coveted Chancellor's Gold Medal said it was never on her bucket list. "I focused on concepts and worked hard after achieving a good first-year CGPA. I wanted to secure a gold medal but never thought I would get the Chancellor's Medal. I want to make my parents proud and aim for a government job in technology or police. I am grateful to everyone who supported me," said Rana. Ishika, a BTech Computer Science Engineering and Artificial Intelligence student who clinched the Kamal Rani Varun Gold Medal said she was grateful for the moment. "I just aimed to top my department. Teachers, parents and even YouTube helped me learn. With AI being new when we joined, I tried to understand it deeply. I had placements with Infosys and TCS, and I also plan for higher studies and civil services," said Ishika. Other gold medal winners were also on cloud nine. Abhay Srivastava, a student of BTech Civil Engineering who was conferred the gold medal said that he is happy with the result. "I was over the moon knowing I had clinched a gold medal and all I could feel was that my hard work had paid off. I've always been good at academics and aimed for a university medal," said Srivastava. Adesh Patel, a student of MBA who clinched a gold medal said that it was a hectic journey but he got placed at Balrampur Chini Mills. "I couldn't sleep last night out of excitement.
