5 missing children found within 2 hrs
India, Aug. 24 -- LUCKNOW: Five children, aged 1.5 to 13 years, who went missing near Tikonia Park in Husanaganj on Sunday evening were traced and reunited with their parents within two hours after police launched a search with four teams.
Police received information around 7.40pm that the children had left the area around 4pm with an unidentified e-rickshaw driver and had not returned. DCP Central Vikrant Veer directed police to ensure their safe recovery. Four teams under the supervision of ACP Mahanagar scanned CCTV footage, traced possible routes and questioned local residents and others.
The children were safely recovered around two hours later. During preliminary questioning, they told police they had left on their own after being upset by their parents' scolding and wanted to go out. Police also found that the e-rickshaw driver was previously known to them.
Police said they were examining all aspects of the incident based on the children's statements. Further legal action will be taken based on facts and evidence emerging during the inquiry.
The children were handed over to their parents, who thanked police for their prompt response. DCP Central Vikrant Veer announced a Rs.25,000 cash reward for the Husanaganj police team involved in the recovery.
