5 arrested for running illegal blood donation camps: police
Haridwar, Aug. 18 -- Five people were arrested in Haridwar district on Monday for allegedly running unauthorised blood donation camps in rural areas and selling blood units in other states at inflated prices, police said.
The accused were identified as Anil Saini and Shubham Kumar, both residents of Haridwar, and Dushyant Kumar, Kavindra Kumar and Daya Singh, all residents of UP. District SSP Navneet Singh Bhullar said a police team conducted a raid in Jwalapur on Monday and recovered 27 units of blood, 27 blood bags, donor forms, slides and other equipment allegedly for collecting blood. The case over the matter was registered under Section 18(C)/27 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Section 316(1) of the BNS, pertaining to criminal breach of trust, police said."The accused were organising blood donation camps without required permissions and documents and were collecting blood from donors by portraying camps as charitable initiatives. The collected blood was subsequently allegedly sold to needy people at exorbitant prices," said Bhullar. htc...
