48 anganwadi centres to get new buildings in Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 1 -- As many as 48 anganwadi centres across 13 development blocks of Prayagraj will get new buildings with the sanction of Rs.5.76 crore for the construction work.
The district currently has 4,499 anganwadi centres of which around 3,000 have their own buildings. The remaining centres are awaiting dedicated premises and many are operating from rented or makeshift structures, shared district officials.
Chief development officer Harshika Singh said the 48 new centres would be constructed with assistance under Viksit Bharat- Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural) or VB-GRAM G.
"After the implementation of VB-G RAM G, construction of anganwadi centres will be among the first permanent works to be taken up in the district," she said. Each building will cost Rs.12 lakh.
Deputy commissioner (labour and employment) Gulab Chandra said the gram panchayats concerned had been directed to initiate the construction work....
