LUCKNOW, Feb. 26 -- The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has pegged its Holi rush management strategy to a performance-linked incentive scheme, announcing cash rewards for drivers, conductors and depot staff while deploying around 400 additional buses to handle the expected surge in passenger traffic between February 28 and March 9. With Holi falling on March 3 and March 4 this year, officials anticipate heavy outbound travel towards Delhi, Ghaziabad and western UP, followed by a sharp return rush later in the week. Under the scheme, drivers and conductors, including contractual and outsourced personnel, who operate an average of 300 km per day for at least nine days during the notified period will be eligible for a lump sum incentive of Rs.3,600. Those completing 10 continuous days and surpassing the benchmark will receive Rs.450 per day, taking the total payout to Rs.4,500. In addition, staff operating beyond the prescribed daily target will be paid 55 paise per extra kilometre. Depot-level employees, including workshop and clerical staff, have also been brought under the incentive net. Personnel completing 10 days of continuous duty will receive Rs.2,100, while those working for nine days will get Rs.1,800. Alongside the incentive push, UPSRTC will operate nearly 400 additional buses on high-demand routes. Regional manager, UPSRTC, Rajesh Singh said the model was designed to maintain high fleet utilisation during peak demand. "Holi sees a sharp spike in passenger movement, particularly towards Delhi and adjoining districts. The additional buses and incentive structure will help improve frequency and reduce inconvenience to commuters," he said....
