4.5 lakh women, companions avail free bus travel
LUCKNOW, Aug. 31 -- More than 4.5 lakh women and their companions travelled on Uttar Pradesh Roadways buses in the Lucknow region under the three-day free travel scheme rolled out for Raksha Bandhan, according to transport department data.
A total of 4,50,352 passengers availed themselves of the facility, with free tickets worth Rs.5.23 crore issued across the region. The Barabanki depot recorded the highest number of 99,304 passengers accounting for free tickets worth Rs.93.88 lakh.
Alambagh depot stood second with 87,726 passengers and tickets worth Rs.48.44 lakh, while the Kaisarbagh depot recorded 66,629 passengers and free tickets worth Rs.62.46 lakh.
The data showed that 50,959 passengers travelled from the Rae Bareli depot, while 50,802 used buses from Awadh depot. The Charbagh depot recorded 33,089 passengers, followed by the suburban depot with 31,177 passengers.Haidergarh recorded the lowest footfall at 1,618 passengers during the three-day period.
