4 workers injured afterconstruction lift collapses
LUCKNOW, July 24 -- Four construction workers were injured, three of them seriously, after a construction lift collapsed and plunged into the basement of an under-construction building in Lucknow's Mahanagar area on Thursday morning, said police.
"The accident took place around 11.30am while the workers were carrying out plastering work inside the lift installed at the construction site," said police in a statement.
According to police, the lift suddenly gave way during the work, causing all four workers travelling in it to fall into the basement.
"On receiving information, personnel from the Mahanagar police station rushed to the spot and shifted the injured workers to Neera Hospital for treatment," said SHO Akhilesh Mishra.
Hospital authorities and police said three of the labourers sustained serious injuries, while the fourth suffered minor injuries. However, all four were reported to be out of danger.
"The injured have been identified as Chhotu Kumar, 28, son of Chandeshwar Rai; Surendra Kumar, 45, son of Jageshwar Rai; Nikku, 24, son of Brijmohan, and Monu, 25. All four are residents of Samastipur district in Bihar and were employed as construction labourers at the site," added the statement....
