4 booked over financial fraud in doon bank
Dehradun, May 17 -- Police have booked four people, including present and former employees of a cooperative bank in Dehradun, for large-scale financial irregularities, manipulation of records and criminal conspiracy, officers said on Saturday.
The complaint, submitted by Rinku Gautam, branch manager of the main branch of Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd, said a forensic audit for the financial years 2013, 2014 and 2015 found serious discrepancies in accounting records and ledger entries. The complaint alleges that several bank officials and employees colluded to carry out fraudulent transactions and caused financial losses worth several crores of rupees to the bank.
The accused were identified as software and hardware engineer Ganesh Chand Varshney; former bank managers Mahavir Singh and Sanjay Gupta; and acting bank manager Vijay Mohan Bhatt.
Kotwali police station in charge Hari Om Raj Chauhan said, "We have launched an investigation into the matter. We will take action as the facts come to light."htc...
