LUCKNOW, Aug. 21 -- With over 30 cases heard at the Lucknow Development Authority's (LDA) Janta Adalat on Thursday, and 13 disposed of, many long-pending grievances remain unresolved despite repeated visits by the complainants. As such, a visually impaired beneficiary is waiting for possession of his house for the last two years and another differently-abled couple alleged that people extorted Rs 50,000 from them by misusing the authority's name. The complaints surfaced during the LDA's public court at its Gomti Nagar office on Thursday, where beneficiaries sought intervention in cases they claimed had remained unresolved despite repeated approaches to officials. During the LDA Janta Adalat around 38 cases were heard; 13 were disposed of, and officials were given a time period to resolve the remaining issues. Two decades after allotment, beneficiary still awaits possession Visually impaired beneficiary Meherban said he purchased a house under the LDA's EWS scheme in 1998 but could not complete the registration process on time due to financial constraints. The LDA eventually registered the property in his wife's name in 2024. But when Meherban visited the property, he found the New Cambridge School operating from the premises. He alleged that the school was using houses 4/132, 4/133 and 4/134. Meherban said he had been visiting the LDA for nearly two years to secure possession but officials had only given him assurances. He said the authority even sent him a letter claiming that he was residing in the house. "How can I live there when a school is operating there?" he asked officials, demanding an on-site inspection. He said this was his third or fourth appearance at the public court over the same issue. Birhana resident Munna Lal Rajput alleged that two individuals collected Rs 25,000 each from him and his wife by claiming to be associated with the LDA.
