LUCKNOW, Sept. 4 -- The 6th State Underwater Sports and Fin Swimming Championship, organized by the Uttar Pradesh Underwater Sports and Fin Swimming Association, will begin on Friday, at the KD Singh 'Babu' Stadium pool here. This three-day championship will run until September 6. A district-level swimming competition will also be held concurrently. Around 35 teams from across the state will participate in the championship. Approximately 350 athletes will showcase their skills in various underwater sports and fin swimming events. Narendra Singh Chauhan, secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Underwater Sports and Fin Swimming Association, stated that all preparations for the competition have been completed. All major underwater sports and fin swimming events will be conducted during the championship. Shuttlers from Lucknow's Vijayant Khand Stadium delivered an outstanding performance to clinch the title at the UP State Sub-Junior Under-15 and Under-17 Major Badminton Tournament held in Meerut. Trained under NIS coach Bipul, the duo of Kushagra Ramanujam Dwivedi and Shivesh Gupta, won the boys doubles title, displaying excellent coordination, strategy, and a powerful game. In the final match, Kushagra and Shivesh faced the pair of Harshit Yadav and Varchasva Sen. In a thrilling contest, the Lucknow duo maintained dominance from the start and clinched the championship title with a straight-sets victory, winning 15-10, 18-16. Earlier, in the semi-finals, Kushagra and Shivesh had staged a magnificent comeback after losing the first set to defeat the pair of Shivansh Saraswat and Sumay Tripathi 12-15, 15-11, 15-8 and advance to the final.
