LUCKNOW, May 21 -- More than 300 breast cancer survivors from Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring states took part in "Aaroh 2026", a breast cancer awareness programme organised at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Convention Centre of King George's Medical University on Wednesday. The programme was jointly organised by the Lucknow Breast Cancer Support Group and the department of endocrine surgery under the theme "Inspiring Life Beyond Cancer". The event focused on spreading awareness about breast cancer, encouraging early detection and helping people overcome the fear and stigma linked to the disease. Vice-chancellor Sonia Nityanand stressed the importance of support groups and said quality cancer treatment is available at government hospitals like KGMU under patient-friendly policies. MLC Pragya Tripathi highlighted the importance of family support during treatment, while prof Anand Kumar Mishra said affordable world-class treatment for breast cancer is available at KGMU. A fashion walk by breast cancer survivors became the highlight of the event, with actress Padmini Kolhapure joining survivors on stage.
