PRAYAGRAJ, June 1 -- The Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA), in a joint operation with the fire department, sealed three coaching institutes in the city on Sunday for allegedly flouting building and safety norms. The institutes were located near a hospital in Hashimpur, near the district court, and at Lakshmi Talkies crossing. According to officials, all three establishments were conducting classes in basement areas, which violates permissible usage regulations. Authorities concerned said the buildings housing these institutes were originally designated for residential purposes. Additionally, none of the premises were equipped with fire safety arrangements that comply with standard regulations, raising serious concerns over student safety. While PDA officials refrained from making detailed public statements, chief fire officer CM Sharma confirmed that the institutes were operating in violation of building bylaws.
