27-year-old beaten to death over old rivalry
LUCKNOW, July 4 -- A 27-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death over a long-standing rivalry in Sarathua village under the PGI police station limits on Friday evening. The victim, identified as Abhishek Rawat, suffered critical injuries in the assault and was rushed to the Trauma Centre by his family, where he was declared dead during treatment.
Additional deputy commissioner of police (South) Ralla Palli Vasant Kumar said, "A clash broke out between two groups, during which Abhishek Rawat died. Five police teams have been constituted to investigate the case and ensure those responsible are brought to justice."
According to police and the victim's family, the incident took place around 4 pm in Sarathua village. Family members alleged that Abhishek was attacked by a group of people with whom he had been embroiled in a dispute for the past two to three years. They claimed the assailants brutally assaulted him, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to the Trauma Centre, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Police reached the spot soon after receiving information and launched an investigation. Officers said they are examining the complaint filed by the victim's family and are treating the long-standing rivalry as the primary motive behind the alleged murder. Abhishek Rawat lived with his family and worked as a shuttering labourer. He is survived by his mother, Pushpa, brothers Aditya and Binny alias Vishal, and sisters Chhavi and Akanksha. His father died around three years ago. After doctors declared Abhishek dead, his mother Pushpa and relatives protested inside the Trauma Centre emergency ward, alleging they were denied access to his body for over two hours. Police and hospital security pacified them. Police said further action would follow the investigation and the family's complaint....
