PRAYAGRAJ, July 25 -- A 26-year-old man is in critical condition after allegedly setting himself on fire outside a woman's residence in the Krishna Nagar area of Kydganj early Friday. He is currently being treated at Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) Hospital, where doctors state he has sustained burns over more than 60 percent of his body. According to police, the victim, a resident of Krishna Nagar, was reportedly a close friend of the woman, whose family has lived in the locality as tenants for several years. The woman, originally from Mau district, recently married a man employed in Gujarat. Police noted that the victim was allegedly distressed following her marriage. The woman had reportedly returned to her parental home three days before the incident. At approximately 4:30 am Friday, the man arrived at her residence and demanded that the family open the door. When no one responded, he allegedly poured petrol on himself and ignited it. Following the incident, the victim's mother lodged a complaint against the woman and several of her family members, making serious allegations.
