25-yr-old man kills twin sister, injures mother over marriage dispute
MEERUT, March 8 -- A 25-year-old man allegedly stabbed his twin sister to death and critically injured his mother following a dispute over his wish to marry a woman from another community in Moradabad district on Friday, police said on Saturday. The accused fled the scene in a car, and police launched a manhunt to trace him, they added.
The siblings, who lived together in Gurugram, had come to their family home in Moradabad for the Holi. They were preparing to return to Gurugram on Friday when an argument broke out between them.
According to police, the victim, Himshikha (25), worked as an assistant manager at an IT company and was also pursuing an MBA. Her twin brother, Hardik (25), had worked at Google after completing his BTech but quit the job about a year ago to pursue a career as a YouTuber.
Police said Hardik attacked his sister with a knife before their mother returned from work. He allegedly stabbed Himshikha multiple times in the neck, face and other parts of the body, killing her on the spot. After the murder, he wrapped her body in a blanket and left it in the courtyard.
Hardik then locked the gate from outside and went to his mother's office to bring her home on the pretext that they had to leave immediately for Haryana. Neelima accompanied him home. As soon as she entered the house, she saw her daughter's body and screamed in shock.
Hardik allegedly attacked his mother with the same knife, seriously injuring her. Hearing the commotion, neighbours rushed to the house as he fled in a car. Police took both victims to the hospital, where Himshikha was declared dead. Neelima is undergoing treatment.
Police said the crime appears to have been triggered by a family dispute over Hardik's relationship with a woman from another community in Pune. He wanted to marry her, but his mother and sister opposed the match, which had upset him for some time.
After the attack, Hardik fled towards Delhi. Police alerted toll plazas in Amroha and Joya, but CCTV showed he had already passed.
His vehicle was later tracked at Garhmukteshwar. His location remains unknown, and police teams have been deployed to trace and arrest him....
