Kanpur, Sept. 29 -- Police recovered 24.348 kg of silver, hidden underground in historic Nana Rao park, after it arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with a theft at a jeweller's in the Phoolbagh area. The worth of the silver was estimated to be around Rs 65 lakh. The silver was recovered from a spot identified by the accused, who allegedly buried 22 small and large bars in the park. The accused, identified as Sudhanshu Agrawal,a resident of Pheelkhana, was arrested by station officer Reena Gautam-led police and surveillance teams during a checking operation in the Phool Mandi area on September 27 night. Police said a case had been registered against Agrawal under Section 305 of the BNS, and he was wanted in connection with the theft. During interrogation, the police obtained information about the stolen silver and took Agrawal to Nana Rao Park. According to police, he had dug a pit and buried the silver bars there....
