2026-27: State achieves 73.4% of tax revenue target in first quarter
LUCKNOW, July 4 -- The Uttar Pradesh government earned a tax revenue of Rs 60,825.60 crore in the first quarter of 2026-2027 which is about 73.4% of the target for the same period, finance minister Suresh Khanna said here on Friday.
Khanna was speaking to media persons about the state government's tax and non-tax earnings vis-a-vis the targets in the first quarter. He said the state government's earnings from the GST and VAT remained at Rs 31,928.64 crore (Rs 24,613.58 from GST and Rs 7,315.06 crore from VAT) and this was 63.2% of the target for the period.
Khanna said the state government earned Rs 15,812.21 crore from excise in the first quarter and this was 95.8% of the targets for the same head for the same period. Excise was the highest revenue earner for the state government after GST and VAT.
Regarding non-tax earnings, he said the state government collected Rs 2,792.83 crore in the first quarter and this was 45.0% of the target. The minister said the state government earned a total revenue of Rs 19,551 crore in June 2026 which was Rs 1,568 crore more than the total earnings of Rs 17,983 crore in the same month in 2025....
