GORAKHPUR, May 10 -- Two youths lost their lives in a head-on collision between two motorcycles on the Mohanpur embankment road, police said on Saturday. The accident occurred in the Khorabar police station area of Gorakhpur when two motorcycles approaching from opposite directions collided head-on, throwing the riders onto the road with severe injuries. Residents and passers-by rushed the injured youths to AIIMS, where doctors declared two of them dead. Police outpost in charge Mani Prasad said the victims were identified as Devendra Pratap Singh, 24, and Ajeet Singh Bholu, 17. Their bodies were sent for a post-mortem examination, while further investigation into the exact cause of the accident is underway. A senior police official said preliminary findings suggested high speed may have contributed to the collision as both motorcycles suffered extensive damage.
