LUCKNOW, Aug. 5 -- Two major upsets stole the spotlight on day two of the AITA Championship Series Under-14 & Under-16, at the Vijayant Khand here on Tuesday, turning the pre-quarter finals into a day of surprises and statement wins for rising talents. Local challenger Krishna Singh produced the first shocker in the boy's under-14 singles, taking down the seventh seed Keerthan Sujith of Maharashtra 9-5. Krishna's attacking baseline game and timely net approaches repeatedly disrupted Keerthan's rhythm. From the outset Krishna displayed superior court positioning, stepping in on second serves and cutting off angles with crisp inside-out forehands. Keerthan showed flashes of his seeded form, trading heavy groundstrokes and using depth to push Krishna back, but unforced errors crept in at crucial moments - particularly in long rallies when attempting to force winners. Krishna capitalized, converting two break opportunities in the mid-session and maintaining a steady serve percentage under pressure. The 9-5 scoreline underlines Krishna's ability to close out games rather than merely surviving them; his composure in the latter stages suggested a player ready to challenge higher-ranked opponents in the draw. The second headline upset came from Kabir Sharma, who ousted fourth seed Pavith Singh 9-5. Kabir's performance combined tactical intelligence with aggressive shot selection. He mixed depth and variety with short angles followed by heavy drives, which repeatedly drew Pavith out of position. RabeeB Ali Khan, the top seed, cruised past Anshuman Kumar of Bihar 9-2 with controlled aggression and clinical finishing. Yuvraaj Singh, the third seed, delivered a commanding 9-0 victory over Ritvik Asthana, showcasing flawless execution. A solitary second half goal by Pankaj helped Big Blue Club beat Lucknow Arrows Club by 1-0 in a District Football League 2026 encounter, at the Chowk Stadium here on Tuesday. Pankaj scored in the 49th minute. In another match of the day, Tektro Club defeated Midwinter Club 2-1. Ayan (37th minute) and Divyanshu Verma (58th minute) scored for the winners, whereas Aman scored for Midwinter Club in the 45th minute....
