2 men from Raj held with drugs of Rs.1.85 cr
Haldwani, June 6 -- Nainital Police have arrested two brothers accused of interstate drug smuggling, and recovered 618 grams of smack worth approximately Rs.1.85 crore in the international market from their possession.
Addressing a press conference, senior superintendent of police (SSP), Nainital, Dr Manjunath TC, said the arrests were made following a tip-off about a major narcotics deal planned in Haldwani. "On Thursday evening, we received information that interstate smugglers were arriving in Haldwani with a large consignment of narcotics to strike a deal.
Acting on the input, a joint team of the local police and the Special Operations Group (SOG) was constituted under the leadership of City superintendent of police Manoj Kumar Katyal," he said.
According to police, the joint team laid a trap and apprehended two accused at Paschim Khera in Gaulapar.
Of the total recovery, 311 grams were seized from Gajab Singh (27) and 307 grams from Sita Ram (37), residents of Bharatpur district in Rajasthan....
