2 men duped of Rs.2.60L in Dubai job fraud
PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 21 -- Police booked a Kaushambi resident for allegedly defrauding two youths of Rs.2.60 lakh under the pretense of securing them jobs in Dubai. The accused, identified as Aamir alias Ali Abbas, reportedly sent the victims overseas on tourist visas instead of work visas.
According to the complaint filed by Chaitulal, the accused collected Rs.1.30 lakh each from him and his relative, Tirathlal, in February 2024. Upon arriving in Dubai, the victims discovered they could not legally work. After financing their own return to India, the victims filed a written agreement with Aamir for a refund, which was never fulfilled.
Chaitulal further alleged that when he demanded repayment on August 14, Aamir assaulted him and hurled casteist slurs. Karari Inspector Sanjay Singh stated that police registered a case under sections for cheating, assault and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, with a circle officer leading the probe.
Police have arrested a man for allegedly luring a nine-year-old girl into a wooded area under the pretext of buying her samosas and committing an obscene act against her. The accused, identified as Anand Singh of Bijra village, lured the girl onto his bicycle and took her to a forest area behind Katari Primary School. Local residents spotted the act, held and beat the suspect, and handed him over to the police. Following a complaint by the victim's father and verification through CCTV footage, Kohandaur police registered a case and initiated legal proceedings against the accused.
In what is suspected to be a case of murder, the body of a 22-year-old woman, who had been missing since August 18, was recovered from a house in Akhri area under the Rohania police station area, here on Thursday, police said.
Identified as Shreya Upadhyay, the deceased was a resident of Marui village, under Rohania police station area, added police. She was a student of M Sc I at a degree college in the area.
The woman had left home in Marui village under Rajatalab police station area for college on August 18. But she didn't return home. Her father, Sunil Upadhyay, filed a missing complaint, said a police officer.
Her body was recovered from a house in the Akhari area. The probe revealed that the room from where the body was recovered was taken on rent by the deceased's relative Vivek Chaubey, deputy commissioner of police, Gomti Zone, Neetu Kadyan said.
Based on a complaint by the deceased's father, a case has been registered under section 103 (1) (murder) against Vivek Chaubey, the DCP said.
The DCP said that four teams have been deployed to ensure arrest of the accused who is on the run....
