18 Lko schools train traffic marshals
LUCKNOW, March 13 -- Eighteen schools in Lucknow have trained traffic marshals to tackle the daily gridlock outside their gates, the Allahabad high court was told on Thursday. The court was hearing a case related to traffic jams outside schools in the state capital during opening and closing hours.
Senior advocate JN Mathur, appointed as amicus curiae in the case, told the court that the traffic situation around La Martiniere Girls College, Loreto Convent College and City Montessori Schools had improved. However, more efforts were still needed to ease congestion around Seth MR Jaipuria School in Vineet Khand, Gomti Nagar, he added.
Each of the 18 schools had sent 10 people for special police training as traffic marshals to streamline movement outside their premises.
The training was set to be completed by March 12, after which the marshals would be deployed near the schools.
The court fixed March 30 as the next hearing date and ordered the DCP, traffic, to submit a report on the deployment and effect of the marshals....
