17 of 478 drug samples tested in Raj found to be substandard
Jaipur, Sept. 3 -- Seventeen of the 478 drug samples tested in Rajasthan during August were found to be substandard, prompting authorities to seize more than 12,000 injections and initiate the recall of an anaesthetic drug from the market, officials said.
Seven of the failed samples were of Bupivacaine Heavy injections from batch number BKBP 02601. The drug samples were collected from Jaipur, Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, Jhalawar and Kota.
Tests conducted at the state drug-testing laboratory in Jaipur found bacterial endotoxins in all seven samples, following which they were declared "not of standard quality".
The drug control authorities seized 12,228 Bupivacaine Heavy injections, valued at more than Rs.4 lakh, from Jaipur, Sriganganagar and Hanumangarh. htc...
