141 distributors face action in UP; 68,000 raids nationwide
LUCKNOW, April 4 -- In a nationwide crackdown on black marketing and diversion of domestic LPG cylinders, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and other oil marketing companies have intensified enforcement actions, conducting nearly 68,000 raids and registering 855 FIRs so far.
Sanjay Bhandari, Uttar Pradesh head and executive director of IOC in the state, said dedicated monitoring teams are actively working to curb malpractices. "To prevent irregularities and ensure fair distribution, special teams have been deployed across the state. In 570 inspections, 18 cases of discrepancies were identified," he added.
The large-scale drive carried out in coordination with state authorities has led to the seizure of over 48,000 LPG cylinders, highlighting the extent of irregularities within parts of the distribution network, officials said, adding the crackdown is aimed at safeguarding subsidised LPG supplies meant for households and ensuring transparency in delivery systems.
Additionally, more than 7,500 surprise inspections of LPG distributors have been conducted, resulting in action against 141 distributors, including the suspension of five agencies. Authorities stressed that there is no shortage of cooking gas, and supply chains are under constant surveillance to ensure timely deliveries....
