Lucknow, Aug. 11 -- A 14-year-old boy died after he was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon over a dispute that began over a new video game machine and who will play first on it in the Kotwali area of Sitapur. The boy's cousin, who also sustained injuries in the incident, is undergoing treatment. According to Dinesh Pandey, SHO, Kotwali police station the video game machine was installed in the shop only a day ago, to the excitement of youngsters. The minor had also come to play but he had a dispute with another minor in the shop which snowballed into becoming a dispute among two groups. According to the FIR registered at Kotwali police station on Monday, the incident took place around 10.45 pm on Sunday near the Raen Basera in Kamela Kajiyara area. The complainant, Mohammad Azad Pehalwan, a resident of the same locality, alleged that his 14-year-old son, Ayan, had an argument with a boy named Adil, who was associated with a video game shop where the incident happened. Initially, the matter was limited to children but later adults too got involved. Azad in his FIR stated that following the altercation, the shop owner, Salim, 63, and his son Shuaib, 30, both residents of the same locality, intervened and attacked Ayan with a sharp weapon. The FIR states that the boy suffered serious injuries to his abdomen and neck. According to the complaint, some children who witnessed the incident rushed to Azad's house and informed his nephew, Danish. When Danish reached the spot, the two accused allegedly attacked him with the same weapon and injured him too. Ayan and Danish were subsequently taken for medical treatment. As Ayan's condition was stated to be critical, doctors referred him to KGMU Trauma center in Lucknow. However, he succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the state capital, early on Monday. Police reached the spot after being informed about the incident and took the body into custody for a post-mortem examination. Danish is undergoing treatment. Police registered a case under BNS Sections 109(1) (attempt to murder), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 118(1) (causing hurt/grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) against Salim and Shuaib as accused. The police have taken the two accused into custody and launched an investigation. Salim, the shop owner had previously behaved inappropriately with Ayan and had threatened him when this was opposed. Azad claimed that the earlier dispute may have contributed to the subsequent attack. Superintendent of police, Sitapur, Ankur Agarwal, said that they were examining the circumstances that led to the confrontation, the sequence of events and the alleged use of a sharp weapon. Investigators are also expected to examine the statements of eyewitnesses and other available evidence to establish the exact circumstances behind the boy's death....
