134 Agniveers inducted at 39 Gorkha training centre
VARANASI, June 21 -- A total of 134 Agniveers took the solemn oath to serve the nation during a passing-out parade held at the 39 Gorkha Training Centre in Varanasi on Saturday. The parade was reviewed by Lieutenant General Zubin A Minwalla, DCIDS (Ops), HQ IDS and Colonel of the 9 Gorkha Rifles.
The ceremony marked the successful completion of 24 weeks of rigorous basic and advanced combat training. Reflecting the evolving nature of modern warfare, the curriculum placed special emphasis on emerging technologies, including comprehensive training on Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). According to ministry of defence spokesperson Wing Commander Debartho Dhar, the recruits were trained to employ drones for reconnaissance, surveillance and stand-off attacks, as well as to counter enemy UAS.
In recognition of their outstanding performance, six Agniveers were awarded medals including Swastik Chhetri for overall best AV, Erick Limbu for 2nd all-round best AV, Sujal Chhetri for best in physical, Ronald Rai for best in drill, Kamal Dulal for best in firing, and Pariwesh Chhetri for best in tactics....
