12 years of Modi govt golden chapter in Indian history: Piyush
Lucknow, June 12 -- The 12-year period of the Modi government is a "golden chapter" in India's history for transformation, good governance, public welfare and global stature, said Piyush Goyal, union minister for commerce and industry.
Goyal was in the state capital to take part in the 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sammelan' at Sahkarita Bhawan, to mark completion of 12 years of PM Narendra Modi-led central government under the campaign '12 Varsh Vishwas Ke, Vikas Ke, Jan Kalyan Ke'.
Addressing the gathering, Goyal highlighted PM Modi's 4,400-plus days of continuous service. Goyal said his 13 years as Gujarat CM followed by his tenure as PM shows dedication with no leave.
"PM Modi has devoted his life to making India a world power, improving the lives of 140 crore people, and taking development to the last person. 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas' is now the foundation of development," he said.
On self-reliance, Goyal said 'Viksit Bharat-2047' is a pledge of 140 crore citizens, not just the government. Despite Covid, Russia-Ukraine war and West Asia conflicts, India strengthened its economy and gained global recognition as a symbol of hope and stability.
Citing welfare schemes, he said PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana gave free ration to 80 crore people during Covid, free vaccines secured crores of lives, PM Awas Yojana built pucca houses for crores, Jal Jeevan Mission delivered tap water to crores of homes, Swachh Bharat built crores of toilets, and Ayushman Bharat provides free health cover including for citizens above 70.
He added that a separate ministry of cooperation was formed under PM Modi, and under Amit Shah's leadership crores are getting economically empowered through cooperatives.
He also said the government's decisive fight against Naxalism is moving India toward a Naxal-free nation.
Goyal invoked PM Modi's 'Panch Pran' - developed India, freedom from colonial mindset, pride in heritage, unity, and duty - as the roadmap for a developed India by 2047.
UP cabinet minister Nitin Agarwal, mayor Sushma Kharkwal, MLA Neeraj Bora, MLCs Ramchandra Pradhan, Lalji Nirmal, and others were present.
After arriving in Lucknow, he paid tribute at Rashtriya Prerna Sthal to Dr Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee....
