PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 27 -- Prayagraj police raided a photostat shop near the High Court late on Tuesday night and arrested 12 people allegedly involved in illegal gambling. Around Rs 2 lakh in cash was recovered from the spot. The raid was conducted on the instructions of the Police Commissioner after police received specific information about gambling activities at the premises. A police team reached the shop and caught several people allegedly gambling inside. According to police officials, the accused were found involved in betting activities. Cash and other material linked to the gambling operation were also seized during the raid. The arrested individuals were taken into custody and booked under relevant provisions of the law. Police are also trying to find out how long the gambling racket had been operating and whether more people were involved in running it. The role of the shop owner and possible links to a wider gambling network are also being investigated. Police said further legal action is underway. More arrests could follow if the investigation reveals the involvement of other people....
