1,500 km, 13 dists: Gen ZConnect Yatra reaches Lko
LUCKNOW, Oct. 1 -- The 1,500-km Gen Z Connect Yatra of Justice Morcha, focused on education, employment and democratic rights, reached Lucknow on Wednesday after travelling across 13 districts over 42 days.
The yatra, which began from Chauri Chaura in Gorakhpur on August 20, entered the state capital from PGI and passed through Telibagh and KKC crossing before reaching Hazratganj, where participants garlanded the statues of Mahatma Gandhi and BR Ambedkar. It then proceeded to Lucknow University and concluded for the day at the Kakori Shaheed Smarak. Local residents and leaders welcomed the yatra at various points.
During the 42-day journey, participants interacted with students from schools, colleges and coaching institutes and held nukkad sabhas in towns, markets and villages on education, employment, the examination system, youth opportunities and democracy. Several youths shared their experiences and raised concerns related to education and employment. Organisers said the aim was to bring youth voices on a common platform and raise their concerns democratically.
A 'Gen Z Connect' meeting will be held at Kasturba Hall, Gandhi Bhawan, at 1 pm on Thursday.
On Friday, a 'Nagrik March' has been proposed from 2 pm from Parivartan Chowk to the Gandhi statue at Hazratganj crossing, with participants from people's movements across the country. Justice Morcha has appealed to youth, students, civil society members and those who believe in democratic values to join both programmes, Indian National Congress UP spokesperson Sudhanshu Bajpai said....
