1,483 locations raided, 24 FIRs lodged, 6 arrested: UP govt
Lucknow, March 14 -- The Uttar Pradesh government said the food and civil supplies department, along with the district authories, launched a drive on Friday wherein enforcement teams at the district level conducted inspections and raids at 1,483 locations to ensure uninterrupted availability of petrol, diesel and LPG to the general public across the state.
During this exercise, four FIRs were registered against LPG distributors, while 20 FIRs were registered against other individuals involved in the black marketeering of LPG gas. Six persons were arrested from the spot, while prosecution has been initiated against 19 individuals, said a government statement.
Through 4,108 LPG gas distributors operating in the state, delivery of LPG refills has been ensured to consumers according to their bookings, the statement added. Adequate stock of LPG cylinders is available with distributors and domestic LPG refills are being supplied as required, the statement added.
The Central government has permitted allocation of up to 20% of the total consumption for commercial cylinders so that gas supply to hotels, restaurants and other commercial establishments remains unaffected. A 24-hour control room has been established at the office of the food commissioner for the exchange of information related to the distribution of petroleum products. Officers of the food and civil supplies department have been deployed there. In addition, departmental officers and staff have also been posted at the home control room. Control rooms have also been established in all districts.
Officials of the district supply office and the local administration are continuously conducting field visits. The government's effort is to ensure that the supply of petrol, diesel and LPG remains uninterrupted in every part of the state, the statement added....
