'Shivri waste site transformed into exemplary model'
LUCKNOW, Oct. 6 -- The Shivri Plant, that was once described as being in poor condition, has now emerged as an "exemplary model", while the LMC's Kanha Upvan has been praised for maintaining more than 10,000 cattle, former state chief secretary and State Transformation Commission CEO Manoj Kumar Singh said during his inspection of the two facilities on Monday.
Singh inspected the Shivri solid-waste management site, where the civic body processes fresh waste, produces compost and converts it into granules.
Officials also briefed him on construction and demolition waste management, coconut-waste processing and the use of Internet of Things (IoT)-based systems to monitor operations and improve transparency.
LMC additional municipal commissioner Arvind K Rao was praised for leading the transformation of the Shivri site. Singh described the facility as an "exemplary model" in the visitor book. He also inspected Kanha Upvan in Nadarganj-Amausi, reviewing cattle enclosures, fodder, drinking water, cleanliness, healthcare and maintenance. He fed jaggery to the cattle and praised their upkeep.
