'Kelkar's vision made ABVP world's largest student organisation'
LUCKNOW, July 22 -- Members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) gathered at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan on Tuesday for a programme organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Awadh State, to commemorate the birth centenary of Professor Yashwantrao Kelkar, regarded as the architect of the ABVP. Speakers at the event noted that Kelkar's vision continues to inspire the organisation to this day.
Swant Ranjan, the Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh of the RSS and the event's chief guest, remarked, "Professor Yashwantrao Kelkar transformed the ABVP into far more than a student organisation; he envisioned it as a movement dedicated to nurturing karyakartas (workers) committed to nation-building."
"Kelkar inspired the organisation to remain rooted in constructive work, organisational autonomy, collective leadership, anonymity, informality, and transparency," Ranjan added. "At a time when society and student life are confronting new challenges, Kelkar Ji's philosophy is more relevant than ever. His vision continues to shape the ABVP's journey and inspires every karyakarta to emerge as a responsible leader committed to society and the nation."Delivering the keynote address, Manoj Kant, Zonal Prachar Sah-Pramukh of the RSS, stated that Professor Kelkar envisioned the ABVP as a lifelong institution for karyakarta-building rather than merely a student group. "He believed that ABVP karyakartas should represent India through their values, conduct, and commitment, wherever they may live or work in the world," Kant said.
