Speaking at the Tilak Memorial Lecture, book launch and journalism awards ceremony at Shastri Bhavan, Shukla said journalism was an important pillar of democracy. He said journalists must bring public issues before society while remaining grounded in facts.
The event, organised by the Kanpur Journalists and Activists' Forum and Tilak Foundation, focused on 'Azadi Aur Uski Sarhad'. Prof Anand Shukla, delivering the keynote address, said the freedom struggle was also a struggle for ideas, expression and social consciousness.
