"India's semiconductor push can transform nation into global tech powerhouse"
PRAYAGRAJ, June 20 -- India's rapid strides in the semiconductor sector have the potential to transform the country into a global technology powerhouse, driving economic growth, innovation and strategic capabilities, said Satya Narayan Gupta, president of the VLSI Society of India.
Gupta was inaugurating the month-long Summer Training Program on VLSI Design (STPVD) at the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (IIIT-A) on Friday.
Delivering the keynote address on "VLSI Industry Insights: Trends and Opportunities", Gupta highlighted recent developments in the global semiconductor ecosystem, emerging trends in chip design, AI-enabled hardware and the growing demand for skilled VLSI professionals. He also spoke about opportunities in semiconductor manufacturing, design automation, embedded systems and advanced electronics, underlining India's growing role in the global semiconductor value chain.
Referring to the Centre's initiatives to promote semiconductor manufacturing and innovation, Gupta urged participants to strengthen their fundamentals, embrace emerging technologies and contribute to making India a leading hub for semiconductor design and development.
Addressing the inaugural session, IIIT-A director Prof Mukul Sharad Sutaone stressed the strategic importance of the semiconductor industry in shaping the future of technology and economic growth.
Programme coordinator Prof Manish Goswami said over 80 BTech and BE students from across the country are participating in the programme....
