'Don't just lodgecomplaints, fix them'
Lucknow, May 25 -- Amid mounting complaints over electricity disruptions, energy minister AK Sharma on Sunday took a tough stance on grievance redressal mechanisms during a surprise inspection of the state's 1912 electricity complaint control room, directing officials to ensure not just complaint registration but also confirmation of their resolution.
During the inspection, Sharma personally interacted with consumers over phone calls to assess the status of complaints and understand the ground-level situation. He also reviewed the functioning of the grievance handling process and issued instructions to officials to improve accountability.
Expressing displeasure over the existing practice of operators simply forwarding complaints to field officials, Sharma said that registering and forwarding complaints alone was not enough; authorities must also verify whether the issue had been resolved satisfactorily.
"Merely forwarding complaints is not sufficient. It is equally necessary to ensure that consumers' problems are resolved in a timely and satisfactory manner," he said....
