Haridwar, May 21 -- Police have registered a case against an unidentified person after allegedly recovering prohibited cow meat from an abandoned vehicle during night patrolling in Jhabrera, officers said on Wednesday. According to police, a team conducting routine checks on Tuesday night signalled a car to stop, but the driver allegedly reversed the vehicle and attempted to flee. The police team chased the car, which was later found abandoned in a sugarcane field near the Khundewali-Akbarpur tri-junction. The accused managed to escape in the dark, amid dense crops, police said. Sub-Inspector Yogesh Kumar, in-charge of Jhabrera police station, said five containers of meat were recovered from the vehicle. A case has been registered under the Uttarakhand Protection of Cow Progeny Act, and efforts are on to trace the person involved, he added....
