LUCKNOW, July 28 -- The basic education department has tightened its online review mechanism to promote a more accountable, disciplined, and result-oriented administration. Attendance at every online review meeting conducted by the directorate has been made mandatory for the assistant director of education (basic) at the divisional level and the District Basic Education Officer (BSA) at the district level. No absences or unauthorised representation will be permitted, a department spokesperson said. Director of Education (Basic) Anil Bhushan Chaturvedi has issued clear instructions to all assistant directors (Basic) and district basic education officers in this regard. The move follows instances of inadequate participation from several districts in key online review meetings. The department found that in several cases, district basic education officers neither attended the meetings nor ensured the participation of an authorised senior official. Calling this a lapse in administrative accountability, it has introduced a strict protocol requiring all officials to join online review meetings only through their official email IDs. The measure is aimed at ensuring proper identification of participants and making the review process more transparent and effective. According to the new directives, the assistant director of education (Basic) at the divisional level and the district basic education officer at the district level must personally participate in every online review meeting. "If they are unable to attend due to unavoidable official reasons, they must formally authorise a senior subordinate officer to attend on their behalf, ensuring that the division or district remains represented without interruption," the order said. The guidelines also state that joining the same meeting from a district or division using multiple devices or separate login IDs will not be permitted. If more than one official is required to attend, they must assemble at a single location and participate through one authorised login ID. The move is aimed at preventing technical disruptions and ensuring a more streamlined review process.
