Jammu, July 26 -- Two women died while their husbands were among five people injured after a tempo traveller veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge at Jathali Mohalla in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district on Saturday afternoon. The police have identified the deceased as Asha Devi, 30, and Minakshi Devi, 29, both residents of Jathali. The injured are Ajay Sharma, 33, husband of Asha; Shiv Kumar, 35, husband of Minakshi; their sons, Trashan, 2, and Shavinesh, 3, respectively; and Nasib Singh, 35, son of Rajinder Singh, a resident of Dongroo. While Ajay Sharma, the two children and Nasib Singh are undergoing treatment at Government Medical College (GMC), Doda, Shiv Kumar, who sustained critical injuries, was referred to GMC Jammu for specialised treatment. According to police, the accident occurred around 2.30 pm when the passenger vehicle suddenly veered off the road and plunged into the gorge. Police and local residents launched a rescue operation and shifted the victims to hospital. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the BNS and initiated an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident. Further investigation is underway....
