Jammu, June 9 -- A truck driver from Pampore died after his vehicle veered off the road and plunged into a gorge in Ramban district on Monday, said officials. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Zafar, son of Mohammad Kassim, a resident of Pampore. The mishap occurred at Nachlana on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) in Banihal tehsil. Officials said that a canter truck, on way to Jammu from Srinagar, veered off the road and plunged into a gorge near Nachlana, resulting in the driver's instant death. Soon after the accident, police and rescue teams rushed to the spot and shifted the body for medico-legal formalities to SDH Banihal. Police have taken cognizance of the incident and further investigation is underway. Meanwhile, at least 15 passengers were injured when a bus overturned on a highway near Rajouri town in on Monday, officials said. The bus was on its way from Rajouri to Manjakote when the accident took place at Tandwal, they said.
