Srinagar, May 9 -- Three youths allegedly drowned Jhelum river at Hajin in Bandipora district on Friday morning, said police. The deceased-Sohail Ahmad Dar, Aadil Ahmad Dar, and Sameer Ahmad Dar, all residents of Chandargeer, Hajin-were washing tents in the river when one of them slipped and was swept away. Locals said two others jumped in to save him, but they also drowned. Later, police, army, and SDRF teams retrieved their bodies. Chief minister Omar Abdullah expressed grief over the incident, conveyed his heartfelt condolences to bereaved families.
